DMC Fitness Top Transformations: The Superstars of 2013/14

As we  launch into a new year with fresh opportunity and potential for change, I trust you all had a fantastic Christmas and a very happy New Year. The December holiday period is looked upon as a chance to indulge and enjoy food and drink with family and friends and we promote it fully. I know that it’s great to let the hair down but it’s also as important to put it back up and get back to our normal way of life by shedding any excess pounds gained and achieving vibrant health once again.

2013 was an absolutely fantastic year. It was the most successful year in the seven year history of  DMC Fitness, with many new students coming onto the program (191 to be exact) throughout the course of the year and over 50% of them are still with us going into 2014. I wish to extend a massive congratulations to all who came onto program. I am proud of everyone who has improved their health, fitness and overall happiness following the coaching at DMC. Year on year, we have improved our service to students, our incredible transformations, our value for money, the DMC Fitness program, and our overall experience.

In 2013, we excelled once more by serving more students than ever before, growing the business and bringing on two new full time coaches in Julie and Steven (we now have 5 and soon will be recruiting for a 6th in due course), Kirsty in the office assisting with sales, marketing and administration and together as a crew we helped 100’s more improve their quality of health, fitness and overall lifestyle.

I am very proud and honored to share with you our top transformations of 2013. These students’ stories are all inspirational, honest and make me feel very proud  and excited about the work that we are doing to help people improve their lives.

Jagi Kalsi

Jagi first contacted DMC Fitness as he was desperate to make a positive change in his life. Despite playing hockey and having a keen interest in sports, he felt sluggish, overweight and constantly tired. He has completely transformed himself in his time training with Pablo at DMC, and has lost 46lb (3 stone 4lb) while burning 48 inches of fat.

His results have been so inspiring that both of his parents and younger brother followed him onto the program each of them excelling in their own goals. We first met Laura at a wedding fayre in early 2013. She suffered with a whole host of ailments which not only manifested themselves internally, but also externally as she was hobbling. She came along for a free consultation and has been the most successful DMC full body and mind transformation to date. Working with Davie Laura has turned her whole life around and wiped out 30 years of illnesses. On top of this, she has lost 28lb of body fat (2 stones) and burned 38 inches. When she first met us, she had just tried on a size 16 wedding gown. She has now ordered her own in a size 8 and walks around buying and wearing size 8 clothes when she feels the urge to enjoy some retail therapy. Laura dug deep and went looking for the answers; in her very own words, 2013 has been ‘completely life changing’. Gordon had tried numerous diets and been a member of  various commercial gyms over the years, but with no improvement in his body shape and feeling overweight and with no direction on how to exercise properly. He knew it was time to employ the DMC Fitness Crew. He attended his initial consultation on his 46th birthday and is so happy he did, despite honestly feeling a little nervous to begin with. Working with Pablo, Gordon has lost a total of 43lb (3 stone 1lb) and burned 43 inches. On a resent student service questionnaire, this is what Gordon had to say:

“I walked in in March 2012, nervous about tackling my issues re. my weight/appearance. 3 stones lighter, I feel so confident in my ability to adapt to any new training techniques given to me. I look better, I feel better and I live better. I would love to emphasise my desire for DMC to keep the group sessions going as the Tuesday group class is absolutely fantastic and complements my 1-2-1 perfectly. You excel in your ability to ‘get through’ to the student and have the amazing knack to squeeze every last effort out of you during your session. Pablo is quite simply the best coach I have come across and I rate his methods, service, demonstrations, communication etc as absolutely first class. Davie, you have provided me a first class environment for me to change, develop and grow as an individual. Top marks from me’

Having always been a fan of exercise, Fiona couldn’t wait to get back into training after having her daughter. She had gained 5 stones whilst pregnant and felt frumpy, uncomfortable and unfit. She was inspired by  the before and after photographs of previous DMC students and made a promise to herself that she, too, would make it onto the wall of fame as a DMC Superstar 2013. Working with Grant she did just that and lost a whopping 50lb (3 stone 8lb) and burned 40 inches from her body. To read Fiona’s story in  her own words click here.

David Doran

David Doran

A DMC flyer caught David’s eye whilst he was standing awaiting his Friday ritual of a macaroni and cheese lunch in a local cafe.  Touching 16 stone, he was fed up running and going to the gym but not seeing any change in his body shape. In his first 5 weeks, he lost 15lb (1 stone 1lb) and shed 15 inches.  Working with Grant, David  has also gone from a size XXL to L and overall lost 56lb lost (4 stone) during his quest for weight loss. In his first week David struggled to complete 10 burpees; now he can bash out 200 when there’s nothing on the television. To read more about David’s DMC experience, click here.

Angela Wood

Angela initially came to DMC after having her two children and got her pre-pregnancy figure back. After taking a break from training, she decided that she wanted to come back onto the program ahead of an imminent holiday to Florida. She had let bad habits take hold and knew that if she was going to enjoy her holiday to the fullest, she had to not only look good, but feel good too. Angela has a great connection with her coach Julie due to the similarities of them both being working mums, and she felt fully focussed on achieving her goals. She lost 21lb (1 stone 7lb) and 18 burned inches. She also fulfilled her goal of not only completing one full press up, but 12. To enjoy Angela’s story in full, click here.

Thomas Jamieson

As an active club runner, Tom was intrigued by the testimonials he read from other sports competitors and was keen to get into shape whilst building his strength at the same time. His diet previously consisted of lots of potatoes, pasta and bread. DMC completely re-educated Tom on optimal nutrition for sports performance and he has the best level of energy ever.  Throughout his 20 weeks training with Davie at DMC, his strength increased and his postural challenges were improved. Jemima considered herself a typical working 30 year old when she first came along to DMC Fitness. She spent long hours in front of a computer screen and drank wine regularly to chill out, like many of her friends. Although she’d always been sporty, her weight fluctuated and at her heaviest, she was finding her size 14 clothes beginning to grow a little tighter. She throughout her diet was 0k and thought as long as she burned the calories that she was eating, she didn’t have to change it. The turning point came when she had an honest chat with Davie and realised that in order to achieve her goals, she had to clean up her diet. In doing so, and working with Pablo. she has lost 17lb (1 stone 3lb) and burned 21 inches. She can finally do chin ups and can deadlift her own bodyweight. Jeremy Hart

Despite having played rugby at a high level and enjoying doing tabata style H.I.I.T training a combination of lifestyle, social factors and a lack of willpower would take over and food became Jeremy’s ‘crutch’ during times of stress. He didn’t sleep well and felt sluggish. After being ‘fortunate’ enough to be introduced to Davie and the DMC team, he has lost 19lb (1 stone 5lb) and burned 23.5 inches. He believes a combination of genuine understanding of his circumstances, sound nutritional guidance and a bespoke exercise program were precisely what he needed to achieve the results he has. Mr T

When I first met Mr T, he actually couldn’t walk properly or sit for any long period of time. In his early 60’s, he had become immobile and had spent £100’s on private health care to no avail. Davie diagnosed the main issues within minutes of the free postural and mobility assessment. A couple of years on, having worked with Pablo, Mr T. inspires us all with the truly amazing results he’s produced. In terms of  fat loss, he now has 10% bodyfat and does weighted chins, dips and pull ups with a great squat and deadlift technique. Mr T. would prefer to stay anonymous which we fully respect. Working in the sports industry and running her own sports therapy business, Kat felt self-concious about giving advice to clients about their weight as she considered herself to be a ‘big girl’. Her weight had crept up throughout University and she was wearing size 20 clothes. After losing a little of it on her own, she hit a plateau and felt stuck.  working with Julie and Grant through her personalised training program and nutritional guidance, she has lost 22lb (1 stone 8lb) and shed 31 inches. At 38 years old, Chris felt the most unhealthy he had ever been both physically and mentally. The stress of running his own business was taking it’s toll. He had seen first-hand the difference that training at DMC Fitness had done for his friends and decided to see what DMC could do for him. Having suffered from IBS for 8 years,  with Davie’s coaching and the bespoke nutrition guidance he eradicated it in just 4 weeks. He has since lost 16lb (1 stone 2lb) and burned 16 inches. Being a semi professional MMA  and Mauy Thai boxing fighter, Stuart was used to having to cut weight in extreme circumstances. However, he admits to not taking it as seriously as he should have because he didn’t have the correct guidance on how to do it properly. His quick-fix solution was to I used to sit for long periods of time in the sauna on the day of a weigh in, which had a detrimental effect on his performances due to lack of energy. He made the decision to get professional coaching to help him find a healthier and more productive way to cut and put his trust in Davie and the team at DMC. The outcome was that he reduced body fat to 6% ahead of a Mauy Thai fight and was sitting on weight 3 days early. Before being introduced to Davie and the team at DMC Fitness, Chris thought he had a good idea of what he was doing when it came to his health and fitness. Naturally very thin, he wanted to add muscle mass to his lean frame and had struggled to do so over the years. He was ‘blown away’ by Davies passion and drive and knew that if anyone were going to be able to help him achieve his goal, it was DMC Fitness. Over the course of his ten week block with Pablo, he learned how to eat and train properly, but also how to add muscle bulk without increasing body fat, which he had never experienced before. Sarah Heward

Sarah had experienced varying degrees of success with personal trainers throughout most of her adult life. As a keen sportswoman, she had competed in 2 Iron man Triathlons and numerous other marathons/triathlons/quadrathlons. As her 50th birthday approached, she decided to try something new to revitalise herself. She stumbled across DMC Fitness via a Google search and has never had results like the ones she has achieved through training with Davie at DMC. She set herself a target of losing a stone and a half within 18 months. Davie said he would do it in 3 months and together they did. In around 18 weeks. Sarah has shed lost 21lb (1 stone 7lb) and burned 12 inches from her body. “In the summer of 2013, at the age of 43, I was in a dark place in my life. I had had a very difficult 6 months in my private life, coupled with health issues like type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure and sleep apnoea. As a generally confident and outgoing person on the outside, on the inside was a different story. I hated the way I looked. I felt unhappy with myself in the present day and pessimistic about the future.  Tipping the scales at 22st was undoubtedly a huge factor towards most of these ailments. Having tried many gyms over the years with very little success, and diet plans with some albeit very temporary and short-lived success, I was desperate!” Ian signed up reluctantly as he had been through this process before or that’s what he thought. Life changing, ailments gone, medication reduced and all will be completely wiped out in 2014.  Working with Grant, Ian has shed 39lb (2 stone 12lb) and burned 21.75 inches; he is happy and ready to smash another 3 stones in 2014 and complete his goal. “I was how I imagine a lot of people are – feeling rubbish about how I looked and felt. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a confident and happy guy with a great life, but my body was really starting to bug me. I work in the licensed trade, working unsociable hours, and drinking was almost a cultural part of the job. Everyone is ‘too busy’ to look after themselves and ‘too tired’ to exercise. This was me. The turning point came when our first child turned 18 months old and she was becoming really active. I could only imagine that by the time she was 5 or 6, then she would be running circles around me. Plus, we were only months away from our second child. It was time to change so I looked for the best in the industry and hired the DMC Fitness Crew.” Working with Grant, so far Barry has shed 22lb (1 stone 8lb) and burned 24 inches. “To cut a long story short, the company I work for were re-locating our department to a new area last February and that was a bit of a blow to me. Our previous location had a gym onsite and was my saviour on so many levels. I could run, do a class or simply workout in the well-equipped gym at lunchtime or on some occasions after working hours.
