Hosted by Steve Dawson at the CrossFit gym “Train ” in Manchester and delivered by coaches Eddie Sheenan and Mark Stapleton. The weekend was a laughter filled energy buzzing exciting opportunity for growth.
Standing in the awesome warehouse gym that is Train surrounded by some of the best lifters and coaches in the present GS circuit in Britain I was excited to get started.
As Mark and Eddie wrote up the day 1 schedule on the white board we all mingled with each other chatting to old friends and making new ones.
All components of all the Girevoy Sport lifts were trained that weekend. Each lift being demonstrated then dissected and finally devoured by us all in bite sized chunks.
We learned by doing and drilling each lift component and this allowed us to soak up what we were supposed to be absorbing.
Eddie and Mark’s delivery flow with ease as they bounce of one another presenting their individual styles of teaching and coaching
These differing styles complimenting each other while sharing there experiences in Girevoy Sport. Skills that have been mastered and refined via the world class coaching they have both individually received.
Mark and Eddie regularly travel abroad and to Russia seeking out the expertise and guidance of highly decorated WCMSI Internationally renowned coaches.
Eddie is coached by Rudnev Sergey,
and Mark is coached by Anton Anasenko.
Both legends in the world of Girevoy Sport. With such great coaches it is no wonder they are at the forefront of GS in Britain and Ireland.
Eddie and Mark openly share the information and technique they have mastered through such high level coaching. During a chat between sets they were both described as encyclopedias of kettlebell sport by another athlete attending and I fully agree with that statement. As you can hear by my thoughts I was very impressed. Not only do they posses the knowledge and understanding to deliver the content as coaches they also lead from the front lifting in front of us at a high level.
It was an outstanding and excellent learning opportunity for myself and my athletes and we now have masses of material to work through.
For the small price charged per person the value for money in unchallengeable and as Mark said in his finishing chat.
“That’s it now guys you know it all there are no secret program’s or routines so don’t get sucked into paying fortunes to learn the same stuff”. A very honest statement
We were all honoured to be in the company of Eric “Captain Kettlebell” Walton. The international man of mystery and legend of the UK & Ireland GS movement.
The next training camp is in Newcastle at the start of Dec. If you are reading this and love GS, lift, compete or just want to improve your understanding of kettlebell sport this has not to be missed.
Great content, great delivery, awesome teachers, coaches and trainers, and a great workout as well.
All in all a fantastic learning experience from beginning to end
Thanks for reading.
