I used to do tabata training because I liked the intensity of it and the buzz I felt afterwards. Then a combination of lifestyle, social compliance and a lack of sustainable willpower and direction would let me down by allowing food to become my ‘crutch’ during times of disappointment and/or stress. I used to over-train, sustain an injury that would last for a few weeks and this would accelerate the dilution of the benefit of my training and lead to a downward spiral. My sleep pattern was poor and I felt sluggish and negative – not always but too often for me to be happy.

So I consider myself fortunate to have been introduced to Davie and his team at DMC in June 2013. The combination of a genuine understanding of my circumstances (he has been EXACTLY where I was), nutritional guidance and a bespoke exercise program was precisely what I needed and exactly what I got.

In my opinion, it has nothing to do with how I look. It has nothing to do with what I weigh. It’s much more important than that – it’s about how I feel, and I feel great. I see it as a bonus that in just 12 weeks, I have lost 19lb of body fat, burned 23.5 inches and reduced my body fat by 9%.

Don’t tell him this but I now look forward to handing in my ‘homework’ on a Monday morning and hearing his assessment of my progress. He pushes me just the right amount with considerable skill and attention to detail. I think I have now been through 4 levels of his body weight circuits and each time, I have thought the next was beyond me.

Davie and his team’s enthusiasm is infectious so I have told him that when he goes ‘global’ with DMC Fitness and his other ventures, I fully expect him to fly back from his tax-haven hideaway headquarters in Monaco for my 10.30am session on a Monday. I’ll certainly be there!
