Morning Routines & Motivational Videos
I really, really like to be motivated and I completely enjoy music, words, quotes and the feelings I can generate by using my iPhone, You Tube and my Beats headphones to get me in a super happy mood for the awesome day ahead.
On the last day of Tony Robbins: Unleash The Power Within back in May 2013, I turned to my friend and personal development buddy Tommy Welsh and stated ” I don’t want to leave here, I want to feel like this all the time”.
Once we left and were on the plane home, I was looking over the sea of houses that was London below me and there and then I made a pact with myself that no matter what happened, after this life changing experience I would get up early (3:20am is my early; more on that in a bit ) and get into a routine of putting me in a peak state of happiness using the tools I learned at UPW.
I will share below a selection of my favourite videos I use to help me de-stress, feel alive and flush my body with the kind of feelings I love to start the day with.
I believe it is important to have a morning ritual set in place where you do the following,
- Fully hydrate – for me that is around 4 pints of water over a 30min period. I am 6ft 4 and 15 stones in weight
- Take an alkalising supplement along with digestive enzymes, probiotics and vitamin D
- Do a fully body joint mobility routine to happy, uplifting music of your choice
- Get yourself into peak state
- Practise mindfulness meditation – not sure why check this blog out here
- Read some form of educational material to improve ones knowledge and development.
I always ensure I do the first 5 but sometimes my reading gets missed out due to time restraints. These morning rituals / routines are now firmly set in place and I am 100% certain that it is because of the preparation I do on myself each day before the day really begins that I find myself, at 36 years young, to be the strongest, happiest, healthiest, most productive and successful I have ever been. I also recognise that my way will not be everyone’s cup of tea, however as contribution is my main goal in life, I wanted to share with you the techniques and tools I use to stay on track and manage 3 busy successful businesses, a professional level kettlebell sport training schedule, the joy of being a proud dad of 2 boys under 3 and all the other roles a super busy entrepreneur, dad and family man has to fill.
Tony said to us all:
“The truth is that we can learn to condition our minds, bodies, and emotions to link pain or pleasure to whatever we choose. By changing what we link pain and pleasure to, we will instantly change our behaviours”.
– Tony Robbins
This is very true and I link pleasure to the total outcome of what I do first thing in the morning, so actually there is no pain in getting up at 03:20am for me…
Why so early, I hear you ask ???? My day rolls like this
- 03:20 – up and conduct morning rituals
- 05:00 – leave for my gym
- 05:30 – start daily workout
- 07:00 – start coaching day
- At some point I will get a break for some food; I will also carry out out any meetings, admin tasks, that kind of thing in between coaching
- 18:00hrs – leave for home for daddy time, dinner, prep for the next day and 30 mins chill-out T.V.
- 21:00 – retire to bed
This is the basic outline of my general days and I love working hard and building our future. My life is uber fast paced and ultra productive. As you can see, there are many areas that can contribute to my stress levels and thanks to my mindfulness I have been educated and made self aware of the chronic stress triggers in my life, which I now manage to control a lot better due to my daily morning rituals.
My friend David sent me this article on “How Personal Rituals Can improve Your Health ( and how to build them) it’s a quality read and says it all so no need for me to.
Ok, so onto the videos. These are in no specific order and all have (I think) a great message to share ….
Live Your Dream
Breathe to succeed
Who Am I? I Am A Champion
Now I Am The Voice
It’s Possible Mix
So, there you have it. A quick selection of my favourite motivational videos. To be fair, I don’t even watch them. I generally just listen to the words remember my past, my present and my future and get some gorgeous flushes of emotion.
I really hope that you can take something from this blog and it inspires you to have some fun and feel happy.
Also, if you are not in a morning ritual, try it out for a few weeks and gauge your level of success. If it’s working for you, do more of it.
