In this blog I will be writing about “Why I retired as a personal trainer”. Now let me start by saying that DMC Fitness IS a company specialising in personal training and fitness.
Julie, Pablo, Grant and Steven are all excellent personal trainers with decades of experience between them.
So if I’m no longer a personal trainer then what am I? This will be revealed in due time but first let’s look at what a PT actually is.
“A personal trainer is an individual certified to have a varying degree of knowledge of general fitness involved in exercise prescription and instruction. ” Wikipedia
They motivate clients by setting goals and providing feedback and accountability to clients.
So now that we’ve defined what a PT is, let’s take a look at what a Health and Wellness Coach is.
“Health and wellness coaches help clients make positive and lasting changes to their health.” Wikipedia
The coach guides clients through the process of creating a vision for their health and well-being, developing a healthy mindset and healthy habits, and encouraging them every step of the way until they accomplish their goals.
If you’ve ever read about my battles with depression then you will know that I take my own personal wellness seriously. I have experienced the depths un-wellness can bring and I’ve also over came it.
Fighting my own demons, what I learned along the way and eventually succeeding as a successful entrepreneur made me want to help others both physically and mentally.
Investing over £100,000 on therapy, personal development and professional business coaching has helped develop me as a man and a wellness coach. These new skills are the reason behind me retiring as a personal trainer.
I WAS a Personal Trainer, now I AM an Executive Health and Wellness coach.
Let’s talk about wellness
Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of, and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life.
Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth. “…a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
To achieve a high state of wellness people will have to have a solid daily self care process in place.
In my professional role as a health and wellness coach I teach, coach and M-Power my clients into developing the perfect self care formula for themselves.
Some of the major challenges I’ve personally experienced and seen in my profession are embedded bad habits, the absence of a solid results based system and inconsistency.
This is the reason I created and authored my own unique system.
I extracted all the best bits in my career which begun in 2006. The experiences I had with my clients, the hundreds of transformations we’ve produced and all the results collated and created a huge pool of data to review and create from.
My intention for this is to provide an overall system that can be followed which has various highly effective tools and techniques that can be used within strategies to overcome the many obstacles life throws in our ways.
As a health and wellness coach, NOT a personal trainer, it’s imperative I focus on the 5 key areas I believe are essential when producing a solid health and wellness transformation.
I will talk a little about the 5 key areas in part 2.
Until then, “Strength for Life”
