I initially choose to call DMC because my sister Kirsten made an amazing transformation and went from a size 18 down to a size 10. Although she had lost a lot of weight it was even more impressive how her fitness had increased. Neither of us had ever been very fit or involved in sport growing up so I was amazed to see how her strength was building. Gyms terrified me; I always went straight for the cross trainer or bicycle and didn’t look at anyone whilst spending an hour on one machine. I was losing a little weight but not toning any part of my body I actually wanted to and I was too scared to ask anyone to help me!
Originally my goals were to up my strength and lose the extra weight I had gained. However shortly after I started training with DMC I was diagnosed with Crohn’s and Colitis disease which not only entirely affects my eating habits but also has side effects such as arthritic symptoms and a lowered immune system. My goals entirely changed and my weekly trip to DMC now helps me to keep on track with my food choices and keep my body fit to fight these diseases. I can often have a week were I am quite poorly but I am able to tailor my training and each week when I finish my session I don’t feel like someone suffering from a condition but fighting one. It helps my confidence as I feel fit and not a slave to my condition.
This training is by no means a quick fix but that’s one of the best things about it, each week you can see yourself improve in ways you never thought possible with a dedicated team who are there when you need them.
