Overcoming Obstacles
Life is a journey. It’s a roller coaster of many highs and lows. This is especially true with your own health, fitness and personal development.

I’m sure most of you may have had some obstacles to overcome in your life. I know I have.
The first thing to realise is that this is normal and everyone is tested at some point or, in most cases, many points when they are working to build positive health, fitness, and self-motivation habits.
For many, the natural reaction when things get tough or too challenging is to think that they can’t do it or that they are not good enough.
Believe me, you can and you always have the potential to be good enough. With a bit of determination, drive, and diligence anything you’re struggling with can be overcome.
Based on my observations as a personal trainer / coach, here are some of the things I see people struggle with:
Some people find it hard to be motivated around their training while they find it easier to manage their healthy food choices.
Other people find training the easy part and making healthy food choices the challenge.
Some people struggle with the change in routine while others feel they can’t find the time to fit it all in.
Many people are consistent during the week and lose their way at the weekend.
Some people are consistent for a long time then find they go backwards. Make 1 step forward and take 2 steps back.
Lots of people are held back by limiting beliefs. Limiting beliefs like:
I’m never good enough!
I’ll never be as good as them!
I’ll never look like that!
I’ll never lose weight!
I always fail at this!
Many people get stuck in the comparison trap. They compare themselves to others who usually have more experience training and have longer time served or they idealise a time in their past when they were fitter, stronger, more consistent or looked better than they do now.

This all causes conflict and I’ve created my own unique model to help deal with conflict.
Compassion and compliance cure conflict and creates congruence.
What I mean by this is instead of being judgemental towards yourself give yourself a break by showing a bit of compassion.

Following a health care process with better compliance will cure these interpersonal conflicts and guide you to becoming more congruent with who you really want to be.

Clarity in amongst the chaos of life.
Life for responsible adults is a tough gig. If we are honest with ourselves we are not always the top priority.
Our roles and responsibilities in life come first.

We all take on many different roles
In order to keep from being overwhelmed it’s important to have clarity on exactly what you want out of life.
Having clearly set goals and intentions in life is a key component part of being happy and fulfilled.

Communication Over Confusion
Connection to your intuition and your inner self. This takes time to develop but is well worth the time and effort.
We must all develop the skills of being vulnerable and sharing authentically and openly with ourselves and others.
Conviction to have faith in yourself, your purpose in life and your mission, whatever that mission may be.
Courage to take the mission on and realise and achieve your dreams while overcoming all obstacles and adversity.
Connection to your centre and your values. Staying centred is the key when anxiety, fear, darkness, and overwhelm appear.
Have a Massive Attack Plan (M.A.P) this is composed of all your goals and dreams for life.

Once you’ve created a M.A.P for your professional and personal lives and start working towards creating it you have a direction to move in.
When you lose your way as we always do because you have a M.A.P you can re-calibrate and orientate your point on the M.A.P.
When I feel off centre and disengage with my centre I R.R.I.I.S.E

This is the exact process I use to overcome the obstacles in my life and manage any conflicts I find myself in.

If you need advice or coaching on any of the topics I’ve covered above I would love to hear from you.
