Tier 4 restrictions are in place in Glasgow from Friday the 20th of November for 3 weeks. Due to this we won’t be able to provide face to face coaching until Saturday the 12th of December. In the meantime, we still offer 1-2-1 online personal training.
My name is Gordon Kyle and I am 46 years old.
Like many people I had seen my weight steadily increase over the years, particularly through my late thirties and forties and had tried various diets to no avail.
I have been a member of various commercial gyms over the last few years and have tended to stick to using treadmills, cross-trainers and bikes and although I thought I was putting in a lot of effort the bottom line is that I weighed the same (far too heavy), had no improvement in body shape, and generally felt a bit miserable / disillusioned with the whole gym experience.
I decided to contact a personal trainer and after searching the web came across Davie McConnachie at DMC. Their website really does stand out from others and the testimonial section in particular grabbed my attention. Real people with real success stories! After plucking up the courage to phone Davie, I arranged a free taster session and turned up at DMC in March 2012 (my 46th birthday).
I chatted to Davie about how I felt about myself and how I wanted to take serious steps to try and lose 1 ½ to 2 stones in weight over the next year. He listened to how I felt and explained to me that he had battled with weight issues over the years as well. His knowledge and enthusiasm for fitness via proper training and nutrition really impressed me and I signed up for a ten week block of training with Pablo that day.
Two days later I turned up for my first weeks training with Pablo at DMC. I weighed in at 17 stone and 13 lbs (the heaviest I have ever been), feeling nervous but nevertheless determined to prove that I could make an improvement to how I looked and felt about myself. I came out from that first session with Pablo feeling great and looking forward to more weekly sessions of real bodyweight training (and not a treadmill, cross-trainer or bike in sight!)
Over the next few weeks Pablo introduced me to more bodyweight exercise routines, kettlebells, TRX bands, weight lifting and along with the excellent nutritional advice I was receiving I was beginning to see really positive results – I lost a stone in weight over that ten week period! Moreover I was thoroughly enjoying every training session – you really do leave DMC feeling ten feet tall. It is hard to put into words the absolute quality of that one hour session.
Fast forward six months, I am now in my third training block with DMC and with the help and support from Pablo have lost 46 pounds in weight and a very welcome 43 inches of body fat. I have also joined the circuit training classes at DMC which are always very challenging, but great fun (even the dreaded pistol squats, eh Pablo!).
I can only say how glad I am that I made that call to Davie back in March and made a commitment to the DMC programme. The training, advice and support you receive from Davie, Julie, Pablo and Grant is first class and I really can’t thank them enough for helping me on my continuing fitness programme.
