Nikola Kelly

My name’s Nikola Kelly. I am the CEO of an I.T. recruitment and  I.T. consultancy company.

I joined DMC after the birth of my fourth child in 2017. So I’ve been training here consistently now for six years.

Having known Pablo and Davie for 20 years since I first discovered health and fitness, I was super keen to come back and train with Pablo and Davie. So as soon as the opportunity presented itself, I took the opportunity quickly to come back and train at DMC Fitness.

First of all, training with Pablo has made a huge impact to my professional career. I believe it’s helped build my confidence. Fitness helps clear my head and it helps in periods of high pressure. Personally, being a busy, full-time working mum of four, I appreciate the few times each week that I get to myself and where I’m looking after myself as opposed to everyone else.

I really love my training. DMC feels like a second home to me. They are great at tailoring all of their programmes to the individual’s needs. And over the last six years, my goals have evolved and changed. I work with Pablo three times a week on my strength training and I work once a week with Davie for a few hours on my mobility and stretching.

I’ve set PB’s in terms of my deadlift, my squat and my chest press. I really love my strength training and Pablo is always pushing me, but always keeping me, keeping me safe with the bigger picture that I’m training for longevity. I’m not always chasing goals. I’m trying to be able to play with my grandkids when I’m a bit older and still run after my six year old daughter. The work that I’ve been doing with Davie latterly over the last two and a half years has positively impacted my strength training and has helped in terms of mental focus. It’s helped with recovery and it’s helped from an ability perspective.

The reason why I keep coming back to DMC is that my programme is always changing. So every 6 to 8 weeks I get a new programme designed by Pablo, which allows me to track progress, that allows me to consistently evolve and learn new things. I suppose in terms of training, consistency is key and knowing that I need to rock up here four times a week keeps me on the straight and narrow with my training,

Genuinely DMC Fitness is a great place that isn’t intimidating. It’s full of down-to-earth, like-minded, decent humans that don’t come here to tick a box, they come here to progress. They are from all walks of life, all ages, and always have different goals. But the one thing that we all have in common is respect and common courtesy. So you feel safe and comfortable no matter which day you’re walking in. So I can come here, train hard, achieve my goals and feel comfortable and at home while I do that.

The advice that I would give to anyone who is considering joining DMC Fitness is just do it. Come along and speak to the guys. You will see that they are all super approachable. Julie is awesome at matching the right coach to the student in terms of goals and experience and personality as well.

I’ve got zero regrets. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done.
